Westwood Village Announcements & Reminders

To All Owners and Residents:

A few Westwood Village CUOA announcements and reminders:

Board Meeting – Please join us for the CUOA Board meeting tonight.  We will start promptly at 7pm in the Clubhouse.  Details for remote attendance are in the CUOA Calendar on the website.

Pool Registration – The pool opens on Saturday, May 23rd.  Don’t forget to register, as instructed in the previous May announcements and the Building flyers.  The CUOA suggests registering immediately if you haven’t already done so and are planning to use the pool this weekend.

Trash – Property Management and the Board are aware that Patriot’s performance for our trash and recycling services has been inconsistent, including late and missed pickups.  For the past 2-3 months, we have seen a consistent decline in our service.  In the past month, we also have been made aware of Patriot service issues across multiple communities in Northern Virginia.  We are actively working to resolve this matter.  In the meantime, please try not to leave trash outside bins in the trash corrals, especially given the higher temperatures.

Please note that residents also are not permitted to dispose of renovation debris in the trash corrals.  Renovation waste must be separately disposed of off property by the owner or contracted party.

Warning – Several Townhome residents have highlighted Garter snake sightings at their homes.  While we have always had Garter snakes in the community, there have been some larger snakes this year primarily spotted at homes near wooded areas at the back of property, including Northern Neck Drive.  Generally, Garter snakes are beneficial to the environment as they help control insects and rodents.  These snakes are non-venomous, but they do bite.    We highlight the following:

  • Please be aware of your surroundings as you are walking and keep pets in close proximity.
  • Parents should actively monitor children playing outside, especially in or near the wooded areas.
  • Please keep building doors closed. We see many residents propping doors open frequently.  This can result in unwanted pests entering buildings.  Owners will be responsible for any damages/extermination costs traced back to propped doors.

Regards,

Westwood Village CUOA
